Hunting with Dave

Well i took this last friday off work and drove two hours to visit with dave Schwenderman or how ever it's spelt. along with his son Adam. We got up early on friday morning and drove somewhere in the country and started walking through the brush. we met back at the truck. well three of the four of us did we had brought a fishing friend of daves with us. i guess he shot at something and missed and then dave as we know him. especially dad. tried his luck at a long pop shot at a buck running away. so we walked through the brush to see if it was wounded which it wasn't. when we got back to dave's house there were a bunch of Turkeys in his Deer feeder so he gave me a shotgun and i killed two with one shot. that evening it started too snow. Dave headed up the hill above the house and adam and i went down the hill below. We sat in the snow for about an hour and forty minutes. adam was about 30 yards behind me and two my right. so basically we covered a 360 degree arc with the exception of the 30 yrds between the two of us. i just happened to look behind me as a tail of a white tail deer walked behind a rock pile 20 yards directly behind me. So i swivelled to on knee from a sitting position and waited for a head to appear from the other side of the rock pile. i'm pretty sure he heard me move cause it took him a good 10 seconds to move 3 feet. and then his head peaked over the rock pile exposing about 4 inches all the way down his back. i saw that he was indeed a buck so i laid the cross hairs right behind his withers if he was a horse and squeezed the trigger. clean shot and he dropped where he stood. i felt pretty proud of that shot. but we went and got the 4 wheelers and picked him up. took him to the hill where we gutted him. then took him to daves nice heated shop and skinned him down. after a day of hanging he was made into some good old steaks roast hamburger and jerky. and i don't care what dad says about deer. this one tastes really good. maybe it's cause dave feeds them tons of corn and apples? but ya. it was a really fun trip. and i enjoyed spending time with dave.
